In this activity, students begin by engaging in close reading or attentive listening. Then they complete a graphic organizer by identifying the author or speaker’s claim, supporting facts, and/or premises.
Students practice identifying claims and recognizing supporting facts in either written texts or oral (spoken-word) presentations.
