Creating Newspaper Content

Using an interdisciplinary approach, activities were designed to meet not only content, but develop the inferencing and writing skills required. We read, wrote, spoke, researched, and listened to stories, biographies, informational text, and so much more throughout the entire course. In order to capture student learning, I chose a newspaper format to showcase students’ skills and their understanding of the  different parts of the American Revolutionary War. Each student was required to complete a newspaper with specified formats; yet, the topics of each headline story,  people interviewed, and editorials were all chosen by individuals.
