Item description
Completely free curriculum that explores essential literature for 4th-5th grade. It includes group activities and writing prompts to further explore the book from an asset-based perspective. These activities have all been tested, energized and sustained within multiple classroom and youth program settings. The curriculum is organized into a simple format that includes:
the title of the essential literature story being explored
the author’s name
a brief description of the book
a list of the Developmental Assets® directly linked to the story’s tale
ideas for Asset-Rich Activities (including instructions, tips and discussion questions)
Writing Prompts for giving in-class or homework assignments.
Pick as many of the activities as you wish to do with your class. The goal is to help readers explore the experiences and connect them to their own lives as they recognize the assets and strengths they have present within themselves and aspire towards even stronger character as they mature. Simultaneously you will be helping your classroom climate become a safe place to learn, share and be as a sense of community evolves.
The curriculum is free! Contact us if you are interested in a professional development workshop that corresponds with the curriculum or if you want more information about how we can add meaning and purpose to the life of your school: team@WriteCreationsGroup.com.
