Dr. Pamela A. Seda has been an educator for over 30 years.  She received her first Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Education and her second one in Mathematics Education.  Dr. Seda began her career in public education teaching high school mathematics.  She completed both her Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at Georgia State University.  While there, she worked as a Graduate Research Assistant, a University Supervisor of student interns, and as a Visiting Instructor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.  After her doctorate, Dr. Seda continued her education at the University of West Georgia receiving a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.

After working in higher education, Dr. Seda returned to K-12 education as a high school mathematics teacher in DeKalb County.  As her teacher leadership skills were recognized, she was promoted to the position of High School Mathematics Instructional Coach.  Since then, Dr. Seda has served in several leadership capacities, such as the Director of Secondary Mathematics for Fulton County Schools, and the Mathematics Coordinator for Atlanta Public Schools.  She has presented at numerous state and national conferences, including the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics Annual Conference, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Meeting and Exposition, the Annual High Schools That Work Staff Development Conference, and the Georgia Mathematics Conference.

Dr. Seda is passionate about changing the negative mathematical experiences of students who have not previously experienced mathematical success.  For her, “success” is not simply passing a class, but rather being able to use mathematics as a tool to reason, analyze, communicate, and open doors of opportunity.  She feels that, for too many students, mathematics class means confusion, failure, heartache, lack of confidence, and feeling like a “dummy.”  For this reason, Dr. Seda has started her company, Seda Educational Consulting, that provides educational products and services that help students experience mathematics the way she did—as something positive and empowering.
