Dayna Laur is a veteran high school social studies teacher. She has taught Advanced Placement U.S. Government, U.S. History, Global Studies and Law in Pennsylvania. She also has extensive co-teaching experience in a special education setting. Dayna holds a B.A. in History from Virginia Tech, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Pittsburgh, and an M.S. in 21st Century Teaching and Learning from Wilkes University. She is a two-time National Board Certified teacher. Dayna worked closely with the Classrooms for the Future initiative in Pennsylvania, presenting to teachers, instructional technology coaches, administrators, and higher education faculty members on ways to integrate project-based learning in a technology-rich classroom environment. During this tenure, she frequently keynoted events and served as a model teacher for the 501 school districts in the Commonwealth. She was a featured model teacher for Authentic Based Classroom Instruction as produced by the National Institute for Professional Practice. Edutopia also featured Dayna as a model teacher for Interdisciplinary PBL in their Schools That Work Series. Dayna is the author of Authentic Learning Experiences: A Real-World Approach to Project Based Learning, which was published in the spring of 2013. Most recently, she co-authored the first in a series of four books on a deeper dive into authentic learning. The first book, Developing Natural Curiosity: 5 Strategies for Implementing PBL in the PreK-3 Classroom, was released in March of 2017. Dayna is also a featured author for Lynda.com. Dayna consults nationally and internationally with Project ARC on ways to optimize best teaching practices in order to make them more authentic, relevant, and appropriately complex.
