This is the first in a series on the development of ideas about economics. Each installment will be appropriate for grades 7-12, with a focus on new vocabulary, literacy, writing, collaboration, and oral communication. The series is interdisciplinary in approach. In “Economics and the Enlightenment”, you will find 3 Tasks which allow students to learn their new vocabulary in historical context, illustrate for students how ideas evolve over time, and how to participate in a high level discussion effectively (Socratic Seminar). The Tasks are pitched at DOK levels 1,2, and 3. Teachers will find quantitative and qualitative material, an organizer, ice breakers, and more. I have designed this Lesson Plan to be used not only in Economics classes, but for World History, AP and ELA classes as well. 34 pp.
