The book 100 Under $100; One Hundred Tools for Empowering Global Women is a compilation of stories featuring products and processes created by women around the world. (http://100under100.org/). We have collaborated with the author, Betsy Teutsch, to create a Teacher’s Guide to 100 Under $100, geared specifically to science educators looking for ways to incorporate more Project Based Learning (PBL) opportunities into their curriculum.

The Teacher’s Guide – 100 Under $100 was developed with a dual purpose.
  1. The primary goal is to present science educators with suggestions for PBL
opportunities that align to the Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs) of the recently released Next
Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  2. This guide is also meant to shine a light on an inspiring resource for educator of any subject seeking to explore the current initiatives focused on engineering humanitarian solutions to global issues.
This guide presents a collection of project ideas that include content from Physics, Chemistry and Biology curricula and connects them to NGSS DCIs and PEs. The Science and
Engineering Practices and Crosscutting Concepts of the NGSS are embedded within the explanation of  each project in the sections titled “Synopsis of Activity” and “Evidence of Learning / Final Product”. Most project ideas are adaptable to both middle school and high school levels.
